Did you know that not all heating cables are created equal? We strongly believe that wider, “fatter” heating cables are capable of radiating with more intensity than traditional floor warming systems. That’s why we recommend only using high quality electric floor heating cables known as Nexans. This means that Nexans cables are able to heat many surfaces that weaker cables cannot, such as stone and marble. Nexans cable systems can even be used with slab or frame construction (dry or wet bed) and hardwood flooring.
Wider rather than higher electric floor heating cables allow radiant heat flooring to keep height increases at a minimum, usually about a 3/8" - 1/2" raise. Since the electric floor heating mats and floor heating systems in general are all totally concealed, you can maximize the use of heated floors and outdoor areas, such as heated driveways and heated sidewalks, without affecting the look and feel of where they are installed. Radiant heat costs are fairly low due to the ease of in floor radiant heat installation. Plus, with residential radiant heat systems, you do not need to buy additional grates or wall coverings. Additionally, the radiant floor heat is directly on the floor where you need it, so energy consumption is kept at a minimum.
For outdoor applications, driveway snow melting cables can melt winter ice and slush from surfaces such as concrete, brick, pavers or asphalt for applications such as driveway heating and sidewalk heating. Whether you’re in need of snow melting cables or heavier ice melting cables, we feel that the thicker cable can handle the job better. A good thick cable can also be used to protect soil from frost.
